SQC Retreat 2024 April 4-7. 2024

We are only about two months away from our 2024 Retreat! Can’t wait to see you there. We have planned a couple of fun activities, but we are leaving enough time to work on those UFO’s or start a new project. The theme this year is Spring Time.

We have several activities designed for you. They are all voluntary but let’s enjoy them. One of the activities you will need two fat quarters flowers and solids or print that reads as solid. Each member attending will receive a swag bag. Plus, there will be raffles thru out the weekend.

8 Reasons to go to a retreat:

1 - Time Away - It gives time away from home and household chores.

2 - New Friendships or Old - It is an opportunity of uninterrupted time to meet or catch up with friends.

3 - Be surrounded by people who get you - Nobody bats an eye at the pile of fabrics.

4 - To-Do List …. Check!! - Bring all those UFO’s that have been sitting there.

5 - Vacationing is part of your retreat - Retreats are relaxing and fun. What happens in a quilt retreat stays in the quilt retreat.

6 - You can make it simple - Bring as little or as much as you want to. Just enjoy the camaraderie of friends.

7 - You don’t have to travel far.  The retreat Is in Pinellas County!

8 - Perspective and Inspiration - You are here to have fun and be inspired by what surrounds you.

We need 20 retreaters to make it this happen. Please sign up; we don’t want to cancel this opportunity. We are counting on you. You can stay at the hotel or drive daily.

2023 President's Challenge Winners

Congratulations to our winners this year: Alberta Dalke won Best Meets the Challenge; Francie Nelson won President's Choice, and Kate Stone won Member's Choice.

Alberta Dalke won Best Meets the Challenge with her take on Lori Holt’s Scrappy Spools, using a combination of Tula Pink’s Tiny Dots and Stripes and Zen Chic’s Spotted for the background.  Only the brown spools aren’t a dot or stripe.

Francie Nelson won President’s Choice with her quilt Bodacious Gingko Leaves. The quilt is based on a pattern by Sylvia Pippen called Hawk Feathers and Gingko Leaves.  Three striped materials were used for the machine pieced chevrons.  Most of the Gingko leaves were made from dotted fabric from my stash;  they were hand appliqued.  According to Sylvia Pippen,  in Japanese art, chevrons symbolize hawk feathers & Ginkgo leaves bring good fortune.  It is lightly machine quilted.

Kate Stone won Members’ Choice with her quilt Camoflage-Hidden in Plain Sight. Dots and Stripes are a quilting staple but these fun patterns are also used to paint nature. This quilt celebrates the dots and stripes that make up nature’s camouflage.
