PresidentMarie KostamoI joined the guild in 2019. It's exciting to learn new techniques and share ideas. I love the peace that working on a quilt brings, and treasure the friends I've made through the guild. |

SecretaryKate SWEENEYI grew up in a sewing and quilting family. I learned to sew and quilt from my Grandmother and Mother. I picked quilting back up a few years ago after spending my time training horses. I enjoy trying out new quilting techniques and patterns. My favorites are pieced quilts and appliqué. My other passion is competing in trap shooting. |

VP of MembershipKaren LacinaOriginally from New York, I moved to Seminole in 1983. I married a native Floridian, Tom, in 1989. We have two children, two boxers and 3 sewing machines. Although I was born crafty, my sewing passion began at six years old when my grandmother taught me how to embroider. By 10 years old, I had my own ‘hand me down’ Kenmore machine and was sewing side-by-side with my mother making garments. I made my first quilt in 1994. After making several quilts I went through many craft phases since: scrapbooking, jewelry making, card making, etc. I returned to quilt making in 2020 with gusto! I bought my first long arm in 2022 and am determined to learn Pro-Stitcher Premium! I’ve been Crafty all my life and love to learn new skills. I love having projects to work on and have at least 7 quilts in the construction phase now including 3 Quilts of Valor (QOV)! I’d love to do hand sewn binding and quilt labels for QOV for anyone who would rather not. |
VP of ProgramsMary davisI made my first quilt for our new-born son James in 1987 using pre-cut hexagons I had found in a Laura Ashley store in London. Somewhat by trial and error I was able to piece the top and worked out how to layer and finish the piece into a usable quilt. I didn’t revisit quilting until I made one that incorporated cross-stitched flower blocks into a simple bed quilt using sashing pieces. The size of the quilt was quite a challenge for me and my simple home sewing machine! When we bought a home in St Pete, I was delighted to find a selection of fabric and craft stores in the area and while exploring them found block-of-the-month packs on sale so decided to try piecing something more challenging. I gradually taught myself various piecing, applique and quilting techniques and became more and more interested in quilting in general. At the moment I am enjoying making wall-hangings that incorporate both piecing and raw-edge applique. I love being a member of Suncoast Quilting Circle and have found not only friendship but advice, guidance and inspiration as my quilting journey continues. |
