Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) allows users to create extremely precise points and shapes. It can be used for many designs from simpler blocks to elaborate patterns. The paper acts to stabilize the work allowing the piecing of unusual geometric shapes, very small pieces or odd angles on a bias.
Award winning quilter Mary Davis has used this method to make many small quilts and also for blocks set into large wall-hangings and finds the method challenging but very rewarding.
During this 4-1/2 hour workshop she will demonstrate how to use the Foundation Paper Piecing method to make one of two quilts designed by Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studio.
This in-person workshop will be a great opportunity to add FPP to your quilting skills toolbox. If you are already familiar/experienced with FPP you will be able to enhance your own skills and help pass on those skills to other Guild members.
This will also be a fun group get-together to do what we all love doing - make quilts. You are welcome to register and bring along a guest (same fee applies).
Choose from Sew Speedy, a 32" x 32" graphic wall-hanging or Sew Many Colors, a 16" x 16" mini quilt.
Either would look good hanging in your sewing room or space.
Both patterns need a mix of colors in small quantities together with a background fabric (exact details on the pattern). How about bringing along strips or scraps from your stash to share or swap with others.
A workshop information sheet, including 'what to bring' will be available following registration.
A sample of these and other FPP quilts will be on display at the workshop.
