If you have not tried English Paper Piecing (EPP) before, it involves stabilizing fabric pieces with paper before sewing them into intricate designs. It is most effective for shapes that do not have long straight sides and require numerous set-in corners, such as hexagons. Because EPP is done by hand, it makes a terrific on-the-go project.

In this 3-hour workshop you will be given a demonstration of the basic techniques together with information and tips on adaptations which others have found useful.

All participants will be provided with a sample pack/kit to have a go under the guidance of members who are familiar with the techniques. Details of what you will need to bring to use this pack/kit will be provided after registration.

If you are familiar with and have used EPP before, this workshop aims to encourage you to try using the technique on a variety of shapes. How about trying an apple core or jewel shape. EPP can also be used to create shapes such as hearts and leaves, and even the pieces making up a Double Wedding Ring, for applique.

Samples of different shapes, of EPP patterns and EPP quilts will be on display for you to enjoy and hopefully be inspired by.

Please be aware this is a paid ($15) 3-hour workshop with proceeds covering the cost of the hall hire and feeding back into the Guild to support our speaker and presentation program.
