Our speaker for the third Monday of March will be Ann Wasserman of Evanston, IL. The title of her presentation will be “Quilt Repair Tales”.  She will share stories from 40 years of repairing quilts.  Topics include the why’s and how’s of restoration, conservation, and rebuilding severely damaged quilts—-or not.  At times, it is better to do nothing at all and love the quilt just as it is.

Ann Wasserman holds a degree in anthropology and archeology from Northwestern University. She has taught about quilt history and design at the Field Museum of Natural History and the Art Institute in Chicago as well as at numerous quilt guilds and historical societies. In 1981, she began working at an antique quilt gallery, where she was introduced to the field of textile conservation and restoration. In 2013, she published her book "Preserving Our Quilt Legacy: Giving antique quilts the care they deserve."

Our mission is to preserve and promote the art of quilt making, stimulate interest through educating members and the public, and engage in projects for the community where needed and appropriate.
